Gaither Goodman Obituary

Gaither D. Goodman, age 64 of the Smoky Junction community passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Scott County, TN on May 21, 1955, he was the son of the late Claude and Audrey Goodman. He was a member of the Riverview Missionary Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sylvia McQuown and father-in-law, Elden Cross.

Gaither is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Connie Cross Goodman; sons, Josh Goodman and wife Lori of Helenwood, TN, Jason Goodman and wife Misty of Smoky Junction; grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Logan Goodman, Landon Goodman, Jacey Goodman, Zaden Byrd, Jacob Goodman, Baileigh Goodman, Braylee Byrd, Spencer Byrd; brother, Dennis Goodman and wife Mossie of Smoky Junction; sisters, Delphia Goodman of Smoky Junction, Claudette Lawson of Huntsville, TN, Annette Letner and husband Ben of Helenwood, TN, Evette Goodman and husband Carl of Ohio; mother-in-law, Betty Cross of Smoky Junction; brother-in-law, Steve Cross and wife Kris of Florida; sisters-in-law, Debbie Whitaker of Oneida, TN and Mary Byrd of Sevierville, TN; as well as many other very special family members and friends.

Friends may visit with the Goodman family on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Riverview Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Jerry Massengale, Bro. Brian Strunk and Bro. Buster Massengale officiating. Music will be provided by the Mason Family.

Committal service will follow in the Smoky Creek Cemetery in the Smoky Junction community with full military honors provided by American Legion Post #136 of Oneida.

Pallbearers will be: Roger Lowe, Lonnie Dean Lowe, Jordan Goodman, Jamie Goodman, Sherwood Hembree and Eric Goodman. Honorary pallbearers will be: Logan Goodman, Landon Goodman, Zaden Byrd, Jacob Goodman, Kolton Patton, Jon Hayden Strunk and Brady Strunk.
