Virga Mae Ownby Obituary

Virga Mae Ownby, age 75 of Knoxville, TN, formerly of Scott County, passed away on Friday, December 13, 2019 at her home. Born in Scott County, TN on December 26, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Wiley and Artie Gibson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the father of her children, Paul Shoopman, Sr.; granddaughter, Cheyanne E. Kunce.

Virga is survived by her children, Relda and Greg Kunce of Portland, IN and Paul and Lynn Shoopman of Redkey, IN; grandchildren, Owen Shoopman (Candra) of Redkey, IN, Eryn Curtis of Redkey, IN, Shoshanna Grubbs (Terry) of Portland, IN, Jamie Willis (David) of Cincinnati, OH, Alan Brown (Desi) of Dunkirk, IN, Zachary Brown (Katelyn) of Parker City, IN, Michaela Anderson (Justin) of Dunkirk, IN; brother, Dwain Gibson (Mertie) of Pioneer, TN; 13 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Friends may visit with the Ownby family on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 from 6 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 8 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Billy Lowe officiating. Music will be provided by the Smokey Creek Singers.

Committal service will be on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at 11 a.m. in the Smokey Creek Cemetery in Huntsville.
