Barbara Moffitt Obituary

Barbara Joann Moffitt, age 73, of Oneida, Tennessee departed this life on Monday, September 7, 2020 at her home with her loving family by her side. She was born at her home in Robbins, TN on November 16, 1946, to the late William Archie and Gladys Thomas Moffitt. She was a child of God and was baptized many years ago at White Rock Baptist Church.

She loved being around family and friends. She never met a stranger. Some of her favorite things were her baby dolls, a Pepsi and her money. She loved to give out coloring sheets, bubble gum, and her special letters. Her favorite question to everyone was, “Do you have a boyfriend or girlfriend?” Barb or Barbie, as some called her, will definitely be missed. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Frankie Elizabeth, and Bobbie Lorraine Wilson (Freddie); 1 brother Colin Moffitt (Wanda); 2 great nephews, Keith and Brandon; special cousins who lived with her Kelly, Altie, Sharon, Sheila, and Everett. 

She is survived by her twin brother Barney Moffitt and wife Cora of Huntsville,TN; 2 special nieces: her caregiver Brenda Wilson and Charles, and Dawn Bush and husband Matt of Oneida, TN; 1 aunt: Wanda Bowling and husband David of Robbins,TN:  4 special nephews: Archie Allen Moffitt, Ben Moffitt and Phyllis of Huntsville, TN, Bobby Wilson and Kathy of Pennsylvania, David Wilson and Dawn of Georgia. Several special great nieces and nephews: Dalton Moffitt, Raylie and Ryker Bush, Mickey Cross, Michael, Katrina, and Skylar Velardo, Jade, and Janel; 1 very special nephew Ryan Newport. Special friends Martha Domer, Vickey and Debbie Slaven, Benny Gibson and all the Smithers family; cousins, who were raised with her: Cindy, James, Sherman, and Wayne, and many more relatives and friends to mourn her passing.   

Friends may visit with the Moffitt family on Friday, September 11, 2020 from 6 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 8 p.m. in the Chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Sexton officiating.  Music will be provided by New River Rising.  

Committal service will be on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 11 a.m. in the Moffitt-Smithers Cemetery in Robbins, TN. Pallbearers will be: Ryan Newport, Dalton Moffitt, Michael Velardo, James Ray Moffitt, Benny Gibson, and Dean Green. Honorary pallbearers: Allen Moffitt, Ben Moffitt, Matt Bush, Wayne Moffitt, Eric Gibson, Bobby Wilson, and David Wilson

With the Health Guidelines in place at this time, we ask that you be mindful of the social distancing measures recommended by the Centers for Disease Control. Masks are required.
