Bettye Chitwood Stanley was born in Scott County, TN on January 19, 1935 to parents: Reuben E. Chitwood and Elsie Thompson Chitwood. She passed away at her home on August 19, 2020 in Fort Wayne, IN surrounded by family and friends.

Bettye was preceded in death by her husband: Walter of Fort Wayne, IN; grandparents, parents, and brothers: Eugene, Jack and Gary Chitwood, all from Scott County.

She is survived by her daughters: Debra Stanley of Connersville, and Diana Stanley of Fort Wayne, IN; sisters-in-law: Brenda Thompson Chitwood of Winfield, TN, Joyce Sexton Chitwood of Powell, TN, and Ann Stanley of Cincinnati, OH; David Chitwood of Winfield, TN, Tiffany Tigert and husband Chad of Mocksville, NC, and April Armstrong and husband B.A. of Winfield, TN; cousins: Greg, Steve and Melissa all of Knoxville, TN; and many other nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.

Per Bettye’s wishes, she will be buried at her family’s cemetery with a private family ceremony.
