Billy Joe Williams, age 78 of the Paint Rock Community in Oneida, TN, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at his home. Born January 16, 1947, in Scott County, he was the son of the late Rev. Robert Williams and Fena Newport Williams. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, ran heavy equipment for over 50 years with 36 years at Blalock and Sons, loved fishing, hunting and feeding his deer and turkeys. He was a Baptist and professed a faith and hope in God.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Jewel Byrd Williams; brothers: Arie, Charlie Bud, and Roy Clois Williams; sisters: Nila Chambers, Narie Lee Chambers, and Ida Mae Carson.
Billy is survived by his son: Robert Williams; daughter: Jodi (Josh) Thompson; grandchildren: Gage and Jacy Williams, Lauren and Noah Thompson; sisters: Pearl Williams and Patsy Henson; special friends: Jerry Graham, Phillip Laxton, and Gale Ray Pitman; as well as many nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
Friends may visit with the Williams family on Thursday, May 8, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at the Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Carlie Duncan and Rev. Marshall Terry officiating. Music will be provided by the Antioch Baptist Church Choir.
Committal service will follow in the Lay Chambers Family Cemetery in the Rock House Community of Capital Hill. Pallbearers will be: Mike Stringer, Jason McKamey, Tony Harness, Jeremy Wells, Jeff Allred and Mike Boyatt. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Anthony Bates, Jeff Brock, Jamie Goodman, Lucas McKamey, Chris Brock, Logan Brock, Mike Carson and Jeremy Dyer.
IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, donations may be made to the Scottish Rite Shoe Fund which provides shoes to children of Scott County at Oneida Masonic Lodge, c/o Michael Byrd 364 Silcox Road, Pioneer, TN 37847.
