Bobby Gene Thompson Obituary

Bobby Gene Thompson, age 83 of Winfield, Tennessee passed away on Friday, June 4, 2021, at his home. Born in Revelo, KY on February 3, 1938, he was the son of the late Everett and Maudie Lawson Thompson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers: Ralph and Dairl Thompson; two sisters: Patsy (King) and Flora Opal (Morgan). He was also preceded in death by his first wife Agnes (Armes) Thompson.

Bobby is survived by his loving wife Ruth Ann (Massengale) Thompson of Winfield, TN.; son: Michael Trent Thompson and wife Amy of Jefferson City, TN.; stepson Eddie Ray Massengale and wife Delora of Murfreesboro, TN.; stepdaughter: Renee Chitwood and husband Bill of Winfield, TN.; brother: Willie Thompson of Cincinnati, Ohio. He is also survived by nephews: Glen and Johathan King of Strunk, KY, Bobby Dude, Duke Thompson of Cincinnati, Ohio, JayLee Morgan of McDonough, GA, Wayne Thompson of Cincinnati, OH, and Tommy Thompson of Sterling, MI; nieces: Teresa (Thompson) Harrell of Corbin, KY, Patricia Thompson Honeger of Strunk, KY, and Geri Thompson of Bright, NC.  He also leaves many other relatives to mourn his passing.

Bob’s love of golf was only surpassed by his love of his Lord and Savoir Jesus Christ. He was a very talented and avid golfer who was fortunate enough to be able to play on many golf courses throughout the country.

Bob was a member of the Winfield Baptist Church, and he will be missed as a prayer warrior there. He studied his Bible faithfully and adhered to its teachings.

Bob was the youngest boy in his family and his cousin Dorothy told that he was his Momma’s pride and joy and she always took him to church as a young boy and no matter where Bob traveled in his later life he always found a church to attend.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Quality Hospice Care, especially Brenda Smith who went above and beyond.
