Charles Benton Beets, age 64, of Oneida, TN, passed away on Monday, September 5, 2022, at the Big South Fork Medical Center. Born on August 3, 1958, in Oneida, TN, Charles was the son of the late Thomas Lee Beets and Patsy Laxton Beets.
In addition to his father, Charles was preceded in death by his grandparents: Delmas and Estelle Laxton; brothers: Michael Steven of Oneida, TN, and Thomas Jr. of Oklahoma; an infant sister: Sherry Ann Beets; and one aunt: Phyllis Flatt; in-laws: Rev. Earl and Elsie Marcum Bridges; sister-in-law: Debra Bridges Honeycutt.
In addition to his mother Charles is survived by his wife: Brenda Lee Bridges Beets; three sons: Charles Kenyon Beets, Matthew James Beets, and Jonathon Delmas Beets; brother: David Allen Beets; sister: Darlene King and husband Charles; brother-in-law: James Earl Bridges; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Charles joined the U.S. Navy while attending Oneida High School. He worked on the air side of the Navy as a jet engine mechanic. He pulled two duties with the Navy Blue Angels and pulled one duty in Hawaii. He finished his tour in San Diego, CA where he retired. Charles accepted the Lord as Savior around 1992 while in San Diego, CA. He belongs to the First Baptist Church of Oneida.
Friends may visit with the Beets family Friday, September 9, 2022, from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 3 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Keith Marcum officiating. Music will be provided by the Pine Creek Choir.
Committal service will follow in the Sunny View Cemetery with full Military Honors conducted by the American Legion Post #136 of Oneida. Pallbearers will be: Kenyon Beets, Matthew Beets, Jonathan Beets, Charles King, Charles King Jr. and Lucas Bowling. Honorary Pallbearers will be David Beets and James E. Bridges.
