Cynthia LeAnn Becker, 56, of Columbia SC, passed away Sunday Dec 29, 2024, in Lexington SC. She was born in Oneida TN on April 29, 1968, to Kenneth and Janise Adkins Martin.
In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by grandparents Rex and Mertie Martin, Frank and Julia Adkins, and Uncle Ray Adkins.
She is survived by her husband Timothy Becker and a daughter Sarah Becker, both of Columbia SC, Mother Janise Martin of Oneida, brothers David Martin and his wife Sandy of Oneida, Dan Martin and his wife Linda Morgan of Winterville NC, and Dale Martin and his wife Tammy of Kingsport TN; brother-in-law Kenneth Becker and his wife Lisa of Louisville KY, sister-in-law Mary Ellen Burke and her husband Mike of Louisville KY. She is survived by uncles and aunts James and Gerry Smith, Paul and Linda Martin, Hascue and Helen Carter, Allen and Jenny Martin, Aunt June Adkins. She is also survived by a Great Aunt Bea (Beulah) Barnett of Knoxville TN, and six nieces, one nephew, and several cousins.
Cynthia attended Oneida High School and graduated as a co-valedictorian in 1986. She enjoyed playing basketball and softball all 4 years (and always wore number 22). She then attended the University of Tennessee and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1989. Beyond graduation, Cynthia remained a loyal and enthusiastic supporter of her Alma Mater and big fan of Tennessee sports. After college, she worked with IBM while living in Knoxville, Huntsville AL, and Dothan AL.
Cynthia was a big sister in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters Organization in Knoxville TN and an avid girl scout supporter as “Cookie Mom.” She loved Christmastime, volunteering in many activities, collecting stamps, traveling, flowers, and butterflies.
Friends may visit with the Becker and Martin families on Sunday, January 19, 2025, from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the Celebration of Life service at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home in Oneida, TN. Pastor Dwight Martin will be officiating, and music will be provided by Allen Martin. Service music will be provided by Gina Phillips.
A private family committal service will follow in the Cotton family cemetery on Cherry Fork Rd.
The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial donations to the American Cancer Society.
