On Friday, December 22, Donald (Don) Bill Cotton, 82, of Byron, Georgia, went to his heavenly home.
He is survived by his loving wife of twenty-seven years, Shirley Asbury Cotton; children with his beloved first wife, Lena Kidwell (d. 1993), Sharon Kendrick (Michael) and Dana Cotton (Eric Aiello); grandchildren, Shayna Jacobs, William Hutto, Chloe Kendrick, and Megan Aiello; and many more extended family members including his stepchildren and their families, siblings, nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, and friends.
Donald was born to Milford (d. 1995) and Lillian (d. 2001) in Clinchmore, Tennessee, on September 27, 1941, and he loved to tell stories about wandering around the mountains as a child. Donald was fierce in his Christian faith and spent many years playing his Martin guitar for church choirs and music services. His industrious mind took him from his hometown to the U.S. Army, then to major glass manufacturing companies as a machine repairman, which he did for most of his working life. He prided himself in never missing a day of work. Don's faith and work ethic were unparalleled.
His request was cremation, and there will be an inurnment service at the Cotton Cemetery on Cherry Fork Road on Friday, March 22, 2024 at 4 p.m.
West-Murley Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements for Donald (Don) Bill Cotton.
