Dorothy (Mays) Stanley

Dorothy Mays Stanley, age 92 of Pine Knot, KY, passed away on Monday, December 1, 2025, with her loving family by her side. Born May 30, 1933, in Scott County, TN, she was the daughter of the late Willie ‘Bill’ and Agnes Coffey Mays.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years,  Dr. Thomas M Stanley, daughter Donna Sue Stanley; sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Joe Brooks; brother and sister-in-law, Kenny and Pat Mays; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dr. Milford W and Zona Stanley.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Steven Stanley and wife Myrna; nephew Tobey Mays and wife Janet; niece Kenia Bowling and husband Mark; nephew Patrick Mays and wife Vickie; a special niece Henrietta Upchurch and husband Roger; nephew Jody Brooks; and many grandnieces, grandnephews and other family member and friends.

Dorothy was a loving wife and mother. She worked as office manager at her husband’s practice until their retirement August 2004. She enjoyed traveling with her family and she was a big fan of UK basketball.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the friends and caregivers who’ve helped Dorothy throughout the years and whose friendships have meant so much to Dorothy and her family.

Friends may visit with the Stanley family on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, from 1 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home.
