Dorothy Jean (Olinger) King

Dorothy Jean Olinger King, passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at the age of 75 in Oneida, TN.  Born February 12, 1949, to the late Lily May Strunk Olinger and Robert Olinger, Dorothy lived a life marked by selflessness—always putting others first and dedicating herself wholeheartedly to her family, friends, and community. She was an incredible mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, and her compassion, humility, and giving spirit will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her. 

Dorothy spent many years as a teacher’s aide at Oneida Elementary School, where her love for helping children learn made her a cherished figure among students and faculty alike. She also dedicated her time to the Boys and Girls Club, working in the homework room where her support and encouragement left a lasting impact on countless young lives. Known for her kindness, dedication, and heart for the children of Oneida, Dorothy’s legacy of care and commitment to education will be felt for generations.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Johnny Curtis King, and her siblings, Kelly and Joseph Stanfill, Ruth Hubbard; and Worley, David, Gary, and Richard Olinger.

Dorothy is survived by her loving children: son John Herman King with fiancé Tonya Jeffers, his two sons, Cody King, with his wife Lexi and their children Kamreigh, Bowen, and Neeleigh, and Jessie King, with his wife Brandy; her daughter Jessica Chambers and her husband Chris, along with their children Carlie and Creston. Dorothy is also survived by her devoted sisters, Bobbie Bell, Rebecca Daugherty, and Sue Reed, who each held a special place in her life.

Dorothy’s memory will live on in the hearts of her family, the students she inspired, and her community. Her legacy is one of compassion, dedication, and love for others, a legacy that will be cherished and honored by all who were blessed to know her.

Friends may visit with the King family on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, from 10:30 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Dr. Sean Lee and Bro. Kevin Terry officiating.  

Committal service will follow in the Johnny King Family Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be:  Jessie King, Cody King, Chris Chambers, John King, Dillon Butler and Creston Chambers.
