Elsie Bridges

Elsie Arlena Marcum Bridges, age 92 of Oneida, TN passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at the Big South Fork Medical Center. Born in Scott County, TN on February 25, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Fred Espy Marcum and Rosa Mae King Marcum. She graduated Valedictorian from Oneida High School at the age of 16 in 1943. She married Earl Kenyon Bridges on February 20, 1947. She was a life-long member of Pine Creek United Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Earl Bridges; brothers, Robert Love Marcum and Allen Espy Marcum; sister, Audrey Rose Marcum Parker and husband Roy, Darrel Bridges, Gladys Bridges Creech and husband Dale, Jean Bridges Lane and husband J.T., Florence Bridges Owens and husband Gatchel, Grace Bridges; and son-in-law, Onvie Honeycutt.

Elsie is survived by her son, James Earl Bridges; daughters, Debra Ann Honeycutt, Brenda Lee Beets and husband Charles; three grandchildren, Charles Kenyon Beets, Matthew James Beets and Jonathan Delmas Beets; sisters-in-law, Jean Marcum and Ethel Bridges; brother-in-law, Kenneth Bridges; numerous nephews and nieces, many other relatives and friends.

Friends may visit with the Bridges family on Sunday, November 10, 2019 from 12 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Keith Marcum officiating. Music will be provided by the Pine Creek United Baptist Church Choir.

Committal service will follow in the Sunny View Cemetery in Oneida. Pallbearers will be: Charles Kenyon Beets, Matthew James Beets, Jonathan Delmas Beets, Stephen A. Marcum, Michael F. Marcum and James Jay Marcum. Honorary pallbearers will be: Kenneth Bridges, James Bridges and Ernest Honeycutt.
