Elvina Rose Lay DeMoss, age 72 of Oneida, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, March 14, 2022, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. Born September 21, 1949, in Scott County, she was the daughter of the late Gada Lay. She was of the Christian faith. Elvina loved life and enjoyed singing, sewing, cooking big meals, and celebrating the holidays with her family and especially the children.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Wanda Phillips and Arlena Laxton; and one brother, Bill Lay.
She is survived by her daughter, Vadina Burke (Tim); grandchildren: River Carson (Marissa), Raven Boles (Daniel); one sister, Janette Taylor (George); two brothers: Bob Lay (Carolyn) and Elvin Byrd, Jr. (Faye); great grandchildren: Everett Carson, Reagan Carson, and Jonah Boles; nieces and nephews: Shane Phillips, Shonda Phillips, Dirk Lay, Terry Lay, Jacqui Elmore, Leo Taylor, and Michelle Ayers; many other great nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends. Special friends: Dorothy King and Donald Chambers.
Friends may visit with the DeMoss family on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 from 11 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 12 p.m. in the chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Shane Phillips officiating. Music will be provided by Shane and Shonda Phillips.
Committal service will follow in the Laxton Cemetery in Oneida. Pallbearers will be: Tim Burke, Shane Phillips, Leo Taylor, Josh Ayers, Daniel Boles, and Greg Chambers.
In lieu of flowers, Elvina requested donations be made to the upkeep of Laxton Cemetery. Donations can be made at United Cumberland Bank.
