Rev. Galen Don Sharpe, age 88 of Locust Grove, GA, passed from this life on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family. Born January 9, 1935, in Scott County, TN, he was the son of the late Walter Allard ‘Pete’, and Perna Lowe Sharpe. He was a husband, father, grandpa, great grandpa, and a preacher and pastor for more than 50 years. Rev. Sharpe retired from General Motors, Lakewood, and loved to hunt and fish. He was married to the love of his life, Betty June Chambers Sharpe, for 65 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Betty June Chambers Sharpe; sister: Marcia Lou Honeycutt; brothers: Mylus, Harry Lee, Sherlow ‘Vic”, Bobby, and Oscar “Holt” Sharpe; and daughter-in-law: Karen Sharpe.
Rev. Sharpe is survived by his sons: Randy Sharpe of Morrow, GA, Rev. Anthony (Sebrenia) Sharpe of Locust Grove, GA; 6 grandchildren: Mandy (Wesley) Johnston, Jr. of Forsyth, GA, Jennifer (Eddie) Eubanks of Stockbridge, GA, Christy (Chris) Hall of Adairsville, GA, Crystal (Mark) Rutledge of Oxford, GA, Ryan (Julie) Sharpe of Griffin, GA, and Daniel (Rebekah) Sharpe of Cragford, AL; 21 great grandchildren; sisters: Greta (Ronald) Cook, Norma TN, and Wanda Wilder, Cookeville, TN; brother-in-law: Jim Elkins; special cousin: Jennifer Boshears; 2 special grandbabies: Lukas and Amelia Hemphill; several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Friends may visit with the Sharpe family on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Hatfield officiating.
Committal service will follow in the Strunk Cemetery in the Little Creek Community of Huntsville, TN. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
