George Oscar Trammell, 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by friends and family at his home in Winfield, TN on April 10, 2022. George was a decorated veteran who served in the Korean War. On April 17, 1954, he married Norma Gene. George started his career as a diesel mechanic for the Greyhound Bus Company and moved himself and the family to Belle Union, Indiana where he lived until retirement.
After retirement in 1995, George moved back to his beloved Smoky Mountains in Scott County, TN. He loved riding horses and ATVs. He was always there for a good conversation with friends and family on his front porch looking over his mountain.
George was proceeded in death by his wife Norma Gene; sons George Michael and Ricky Lee; daughters Bonita, Lenita, and Nena; sisters Ruby Hauter and Mary Joyce Trammell-Roark; and brothers James Edward, Ray Odie, and Charles Wallace.
He is survived by his brothers Johnny Howard and family and Henry Avon and family; sister Edna Mae Trammell-Hill; sons Tony and wife Dawn, Terry and wife Kim, and Troy; and his daughter Rena Trammell-Alexander. He is missed by 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Chitwood Cemetery in Winfield, TN with full Military Honors conducted by the American Legion Post #136 of Oneida.
