George Byrd, age 70, of Huntsville, TN, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2026, at his home. Born February 22, 1956, he was the son of the late Dorsey Lee and Lucy Jeffers Byrd. He was a member of the Mill Branch Baptist Church, and owned and operated Byrd’s Taxidermy for 35 + years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by father-in-law and mother-in-law: Bill and Mable Phillips; brothers: Raymond, Glen, and D. T. Byrd; sisters-in-law: Linda, Peggy, Lois, and Linda Byrd; brothers-in-law: Bill Hall and Titus Burkeholder.
George is survived by his wife: Linda Byrd; kids: Chris Champion and wife Megan, and Katelyn Lowe and husband Lucas; grandchildren: Alexis, Nikaleah, Brynlee and Oakley; brothers: J. E. and wife Florence, Henry and wife Cindy, Jimmy and Mitzi, Allen, Chester and wife Donna, and Finley and wife Valerie; sister: Artie Burkeholder; sister-in-law: Sara Byrd; many special nieces, nephews; special friends: John Duncan, Dustin Bowling, Jeff Watson, J. R. Massengale, Tommy Burress and others; as well as many other family members and friends.
Friends may visit with the Byrd family on Sunday, March 22, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at 3:30 p.m. at the Mill Branch Church with Bro. Jeff Watson, Bro. J. R. Massengale and Bro. Dustin Bowling officiating.
Committal service will follow in the Mill Branch Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Matt Watson, Steven Flowers, Peyton Carson, Mickey Flint, Harvey Adkins, Cody Burchfield and Luke Carson.
