George Martin Jacks Obituary

 

George Martin Jacks, age 82 of Lexington, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at the Hillcreek Nursing Home in Louisville, Kentucky.  Born in Winfield, Tennessee on November 21, 1937, he was the son of the late James Carl and Nola Belle Taylor Jacks.  George retired from a long career with IBM, was a member of the New Light Baptist Church, an Honorable Kentucky Colonel, and served in the United States Army.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Bess Jacks; brother Dan Jacks; sister June Carter; nephew Carl Jacks.

Survived by his son George “Marty” Jacks, Jr., daughter Michele L. Wilson and husband Darrell; grandchildren: LeeAnn Jacks, Darrell Wilson, Jr., Nick Wilson, George “Trey” Jacks III, Alexis Wilson, and Zachary Wilson; brother-in-law Jack Carter; sister-in-law Lori Jacks; special friend Hazel Bowling of Robbins; many other relatives and friends.

Friends may visit with the Jacks family on Saturday, October 3, 2020 from 1 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Fultz officiating.  Music will be provided by the New Light Singers.

Committal service will follow in the Hazel Valley Memorial Cemetery in Oneida with full Military Honors conducted by the American Legion Post #136 of Oneida.  Serving as pallbearers will be: Darrell Wilson, Darrell Wilson, Jr., George “Trey” Jacks III, Chris Carter, Jackie Brawner, and Jeff Bowling.

With the Health Guidelines in place at this time, we ask that you be mindful of the social distancing measures recommended by the Centers for Disease Control.  Masks are required.
