Helen Griffith

Helen Griffith, age 88, left this world on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born October 15, 1934, in the Brimstone area of Scott County to her parents Sylvester and Bertha (Reagan) Griffith.

Helen loved working in her flower beds when she was able, watching her soap operas and western movies, feeding the birds, and sitting on the porch drinking coffee with family, but there was nothing she loved more than her family.

She was preceded in death by her young husband and father of 6 of her 7 children, Kenneth Griffith; her parents, Sylvester and Bertha (Reagan) Griffith; 2 sisters, Margie and Eloise Griffith; 4 brothers, J.C., Russel, Joe and Floyd Griffith; son-in-law, Larry Garrett; and daughter-in-law, Abby Griffith.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Stanley Griffith; 4 daughters, Janice (Benny) Bowling, Kathy (Wade) Chambers, Diana Garrett, and Brenda Spradlin; 3 sons, Kenneth Larry, Michael, and Stanley Jr. Griffith; 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren; 1 brother, Howard (Sharon) Griffith; many other relatives and friends.

Friends may visit with the Griffith family on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 from 5 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 7 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Davis and Bro. Jim West officiating.

Committal service will be on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at 11 a.m. in the Lone Mountain Cemetery in the Brimstone community. Pallbearers will be: Jeremy Overton, Dakota Overton, Brandon Garrett, Scott Griffith, James Griffith, and Mark Griffith.
