James Allen ‘Trow’ Coffey, age 88, of Winfield, TN, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025, at the University of TN Medical Center in Knoxville, TN. Born May 2, 1936, he was the son of the late John Howard and Myrtle Chitwood Coffey. He was a member of the Winfield Baptist Church; and was a Veteran of the United States Navy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son: Mark Allen Coffey, and Artie and Mary Chambers Abbott; brothers-in-law: Charles P. Jeffers, and Charlie Christie; sisters-in-law: Selma Abbott Barnes and Madge Abbott Mayse; and nephew: Charles Derek Jeffers.
Trow is survived by his wife: Lorraine Abbott Coffey; daughter: Marcy Boles and husband Terry; daughter-in-law: Tonya Coffey; grandchildren: Jessica Barnett and husband Dusty, Daniel Boles and wife Raven, and Jordan Coffey; great grandchildren: Jonothan Barnett, Lydia Barnett, James Barnett, Jason Barnett, Chloe Barnett, Jeremy Barnett, Jared Barnett, Anna Lee Barnett, Emily Barnett, Joshua Barnett, Autumn Barnett, Jayilee Coffey, and Jonah Boles; sister: Sandra Jeffers; brother-in-law: Acmon Abbott and wife Esther; sister-in-law: Faye Abbott Christie; niece: Jill Jeffers Griffith; as well as other family members and friends.
Friends may visit with the Coffey family on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Dilbert Terry officiating. Music will be provided by the Women of Trinty.
Following the service, James will be cremated.
