James Britt 'Jay' Stewart, Jr.

James Britt ‘Jay’ Stewart, Jr., age 61, passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2025, in Manchester, TN.  Born September 23, 1963, in Harlan, KY, he was the son of Annette Shackelford Stewart the late James Britt Stewart, Sr.  Jay was a graduate of Oneida High School and worked in Healthcare for many years.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife:  Lela Stewart; and an infant brother:  Shon Stewart; father and mother-in-law:  R T and Vena Mae Lackey.

In addition to his mother, Jay is survived by one son:  Treye Stewart and wife Makayla; step-daughter:  Angie Smith and husband Matt; three grandchildren:  Jacob and Eli Smith and Aubree Stewart Wunderlin; two brothers:  Tyrone Stewart and wife Virginia, and Carl Stewart; two nieces:  Carlesa Stewart and Megan Stewart; nephew:  Sean Stewart; and many other relatives and special friends.

Friends may visit with the Stewart family on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Joe West officiating.  Music will be provided by:  Helen Yancey.

Committal Service will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. in Carson Memorial Park.  Pallbearers will be:  Sean Stewart, Treye Stewart, Joseph Luckadoo, Jaiden Luckadoo, Tyrone Stewart and Carl Stewart.
