James ‘Jim’ Slaven, Jr., age 85, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 9, 2024, at his home. Born December 8, 1939, he was the son of the late James Sr. and Mavis Boyatt Slaven.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife: Letha Mae Hill Slaven; granddaughter: Officer April Duncan; great great grandson: Micah Duncan; siblings: Billy, Roy, Ray, Betty and Flonnie Slaven, Dolly King and husband Denford; brother-in-law: Everett ‘Chig’ West; sister-in-law: Linda Slaven; and son-in-law: Billy Reynolds.
James is survived by his children: Bernice Reynolds, Jackie Slaven and wife Carolyn, Bonnie Hughett and Fiancé Chris Wilson, Jimmy Slaven, Buffy Harness and husband Edmond, and Doris ‘DJ’ Slaven; grand and great grandkids: Caden, Kandence and Carley Duncan, Keith, Pistol, Ashlynn, Colt and Wyatt Hughett, Fallon and husband Bobby, Xavier and Dorian Davis, Gabriel and wife Navy, and Kash Bertram, Dallas and Tobie Yaden, Sterlin and wife Kristin, and Elijah Wilson, Tucker Slaven, Dalton and Fiancée Macy Bunch, and Aroara Harness, Chris and Tianne, Maci, Remington and Meadow Harness; sister: Shirley West; brother: Joe Slaven; special friend: Hurstle Terry; with many nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
Friends may visit with the Slaven family on Sunday, December 15, 2024, from 12:00 pm until time of funeral service at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Don Kidd officiating.
Committal service will follow in the Slaven Cemetery in Oneida, TN. Pallbearers will be: Keith Hughett, Sterlin Wilson, Gabriel Bertram, Dalton Harness, Tucker Slaven, and Caden Duncan. Honorary Pallbearer will be: Chris Harness.
