James (Jim) Howard Bishop, age 79, passed away on September 28, 2024, at Piedmont Hospital in Cartersville, Georgia.
Jim was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on June 23, 1945. He married Naomi (Nim) Brumett, of New River, Tennessee on June 16, 1967. They spent 54 happy years together before her passing in 2022. Jim grew up spending summers in New River at his Grandmother Washam’s house and always enjoyed being in Scott County. After retiring from a 44-year career with Lockheed Martin, he and Nim relocated to Helenwood in 2017. Jim enjoyed spending time with family, tending to his garden, keeping up with news, and watching the Gators through thick and thin.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents George and Fleeda Washam Bishop, son Christopher Bishop, and sister Elaine Holmes.
He is survived by his children: Jim (Cathy) Bishop and Jon (Shana) Bishop, and six grandchildren: Jordan and Jimmy Bishop, Jacob Bishop, Finn, Luke, and Nora Bishop; sisters: Marilyn Votta and Marjorie Crawford as well as many other relatives and friends.
Friends may visit with the Bishop family on Friday, October 4, 2024 from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home.
A graveside service will follow in the Reed Cemetery with Bro. Kevin Terry officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
