James Robert Byrge Obituary

James Robert Byrge, age 75, departed this life to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge, TN.  Born June 4, 1945, Robert lived his entire life on Brimstone Rd. in Robbins, TN.  He was an essential member in his community who loved helping people.  His servant’s heart is due to his profession of faith and trust in his Savior Jesus Christ.  He physically expressed his deepest desire to serve the Lord at his church, he did his best to fulfill his desire.  Robert was a member of Slick Rock Missionary Baptist church where he was a deacon for over 40 years.

Robert was the son of the late Enmon and Betty Byrge.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his in-laws:  Nelson and Myrtle Meece; brothers:  Dan Byrge and Paul Byrge; sisters:  Doris (Byrge) Daugherty and Glena (Byrge) Griffith; and an infant grandson:  Levi Shannon.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of over 55 years:  Brenda Sue (Meece) Byrge; four daughters:  Regina Carson and husband Ray, Rhonda Adkins and husband John, Rechelle Shannon and husband Ellery, and Rebecca Pennington and husband Dustin, Sr.; one son:  Ryan Byrge and wife Megan; grandchildren:  Robert (Kit) Carson, Johnathan Adkins and wife Ansley; Haley Adkins and boyfriend Blake Yancey, Lauren Pennington, Bryson Shannon and girlfriend Jacey Goodman, Dustin Pennington, Jr., Alley and Addison Shannon, Ben Carson, Hunter and Jay’lynne Jones, and Mikey Bohl; great granddaughters:  Renley and Araceli; sisters:  Imogene (Byrge) Burgess, and Beverly (Byrge) Walker.  Robert is also survived by a host of other family members, nieces, nephews, and many special friends of all whom he loved dearly. Pallbearers will be:  Robert (Kit) Carson, Johnathan Adkins, Bryson Shannon, Dustin Pennington, Jr., Ben Carson, Ray Carson, John Adkins, Ellery Shannon and Dustin Pennington, Sr.  Bro. David Coffman will be officiating the service.
 
The family would like to extend deepest gratitude and appreciation to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Methodist Medical Center for their incredible care, attentiveness, and compassion for Robert.  It will never be forgotten.

Ceremony is going to be private but if anyone would like to get a message to the family or perhaps a short story about Robert please call 423-965-5742 or 423-319-9488 starting today February 2, 2021 and ending Saturday February 6, 2021 at 10pm.  The messages and stories will be used to create a Remembrance Book for the family.

Due to COVID-19 gathering restrictions, the family will have a private ceremony.  The family would like to inform friends and loved ones that a Celebration of Life service will be planned for a later date.

With the Health Guidelines in place at this time, we ask that you be mindful of the social distancing measures recommended by the Centers for Disease Control.  Masks are required.
