James “Roscoe” Blevins, Sr., age 88 of the Pine Creek Community in Oneida, Tennessee departed this life on January 7, 2025, at his home, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on June 6, 1936, in the Pine Creek Community to the late Lawrence E. and Pearl M. Watson Blevins. Roscoe, as he was known by most, was a hard worker. He retired from the U.S. Army as a Master Sergeant and then from the United States Postal Service. He was an active member of the VFW and American Legion for many years. He was of the Baptist faith.
Rock was preceded in death by wives, Pansy H. Blevins (2016), and Carol E. Berry (1976), beloved grandchildren James Michael Blevins, Joshua Lawson, and Cheyenne Ward.
In addition to his parents, wives and grandchildren, Roscoe was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph and Savannah Bell Watson and William Houston and Rosa Marcum Blevins; brothers, Billy Joe Blevins, Sr. and wife, Lorene Carson Blevins, JD Blevins; sisters, Barbara S. Blevins King and husband, Curtis, Ruth K. Blevins Burress and husband, Harold, Flonnie F. Blevins Phillips and husband, James H. Phillips; sister Bonnie J. Blevins Bell and husband William Bell. He has also said goodbye to many special nieces, nephews and friends.
Roscoe is survived by his five children, Dwayne Ward (Oneida, Tn), Terrie Lynn Lawson and husband Roger (Oneida, Tn), Rocky Blevins and wife Shelly (Louisville, Ky), Valerie Crees and husband Justin (Elizabethtown, Ky), Berlinda Stockdale and husband Phillip (Elizabethtown, Ky), grandchildren, Samantha Ward, Maranda Ward, Jessica Rogers (Charles), Joey Lawson (Kadee), Leighanna Lawson, Tori Blevins, Kenny Lindsey, Ashley Lindsey, Mikayla Ormes (Levi), Peyton Stockdale, and Atticus Stockdale, in addition to 8 great grandkids, and sisters, Lena M. Blevins Jackson, Nancy L. Blevins Ooten and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Friends may visit with the Blevins family on Friday, January 10, 2025 from 12 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home.
Committal service will follow in the Blevins Family Cemetery in Oneida with full Military Honors conducted by the American Legion Post #136 of Oneida. Pallbearers will be: Roger Lawson, Justin Crees, Kenny Lindsey, Phillip Stockdale, Ezra Terry, and Rocky Blevins.
