Janis S. (Yaden) Hancock, age 70 of Corryton, TN, passed away on Monday, January 4, 2021 at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. She was a retired elementary school teacher, musician and music teacher, and started the first band at Scott County High School. Janis was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church where she enjoyed playing the piano.
Janis was preceded in death by her parents: Russell Overstreet and Elva Ruth Jeffers Yaden.
She is survived by her loving husband: Jarvis L. Hancock; son: Carter Chambers and wife Jenny; granddaughters: Shelby and Calee Chambers; brother: Russell Yaden and wife Jeanie; nephews, a great niece, several cousins and other family members and friends.
Graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. in the Carson Memorial Park.
