Jerry Wayne Gibson

Jerry Wayne Gibson, age 72, departed this life on Monday, December 9, 2024, at the University of TN Medical Center in Knoxville, TN.  Born September 4, 1952, he was the son of the late Herstal and Lakie Lee Chambers Gibson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law:  Clifton and Nola Washam; sisters:  Rosa Lawson, Josephine Ellis, Lou Jean Harness and Phyllis Terry; brothers:  Willis Abbott, Otis Abbott, Preston Jeffers, Bill Gibson and three infant siblings.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 53 years:  Phyllis Washam Gibson; three daughters:  Lora Gibson, Amy Kirby and husband John, and Abbie Hatfield and husband Greg; grandchildren:  Gabryal Gibson, John Christopher Kirby, Ashley (pie) Kirby, Hunter Phillips, James Crabtree, Matthew Phillips and Owen Hatfield; one great-granddaughter:  Chloe Powell; brothers:  John Gibson and Benny (Debbie) Gibson; sisters:  Ola Mae Jeffers and Sharon Blackburn; and he was also a Papaw figure to many of his nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly, and many other in-laws, special friends and loved ones who will miss his humor and company.

Friends may visit with the Gibson family on Saturday, December 14, 2024, from 12:00 pm until time of funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at the Mill Branch Baptist Church with Bro. Larry Sexton and Bro. Carlie Duncan officiating.  Music will be provided by Heather and Enoch Harness, and Peggy Duncan.

Committal service will follow in the Mill Branch Cemetery in Huntsville, TN.
