Jesse Cordell Terry

Jesse Cordell Terry, age 78 of Oneida, TN, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2024, at his home with his family by his side.  Born January 30, 1946, he was the son of the late L. Caney and Maudie Blevins Terry.  He was a member of the Bethalonia United Baptist Church where he served as a deacon; and he served in the United States Army during the Vietnam war era.  Jesse was a loving husband, father and papaw.  Jesse loved the outdoors where he spent a lot of time fishing, camping and hunting with his family.  

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers:  Theodore Terry and wife Ruth, Jacob Daniel Terry and wife Lois, and Harlen Terry; one half-brother:  James Terry; three sisters:  Dorothy Marie Terry Young and husband Billy Ray, Nora Mae Terry Reynolds, and Lola Faye Terry Jeffers and husband Ken Jeffers.

Jesse is survived by his loving wife of 51 years and 10 months:  Ova Mae Blevins Terry; son:  Anthony Dale Terry and wife Amy Jewell Lay Terry; three grandchildren:  Gabriel Kent Terry and wife Shae Lee Byrge Terry, Kaitlyn Jewell Terry, and Luke Anthony Terry, all of Oneida; one special great grandson:  Silas Grant Terry; sister:  Bonnie Miller, and many other nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

He was hospice with Quality Hospice Care. The family wishes to extend a thank you to all their staff, with special thanks to Pam Burge, Starla Stewart, and Seth Stewart. We know that he is now at peace in the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ where there is no more pain or suffering, no more sickness or death, where there is peace forevermore.

Friends may visit with the Terry family on Monday, November 25, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Keith Marcum and Bro. Jeff Ledford officiating.  Music will be provided by his grandkids.

Committal service will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the Grave Hill Cemetery in Oneida.  Pallbearers will be: Jacob Ledford, Ronnie Walters, Cameron Thomas, Gabriel Terry, Luke Terry and Mike Young.
