Reverend Jimmy Eugene Griffith, age 64, entered the loving arms of his Savior on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at his home with his faithful wife of 43 years beside him. Born September 3, 1958, he was the son of the late Patton and Wanda Jean Sexton Griffith. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist. He was Pastor of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, and caretaker of Lone Mt. Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his uncle and aunt Harvey and Mary Helen Garrett; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Ulyous and Frankie June Hamby.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Teresa Hamby Griffith; three children: Jason Griffith, Mark Griffith (Amanda Blaker), and Jamie Griffith; grandchildren: Natalie, Avery, Kaylee and Bentley Griffith, all of Kingston, Nathaniel and Sydney Blaker of Oneida; niece: Henrietta and husband Anthony and son Dakota Henry, all of Robbins; two sisters: Pattie and Peggy; two brothers: Steve and Darrell; very special friends: Joyce and Lloyd Woods; and many other family members and friends.
Friends may visit the Griffith family on Saturday, October 8, 2022, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Jones & Son Funeral Home.
Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at the Lone Mountain Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Charles Northrup, and Jamie Griffith officiating. Music will be provided by Alora Lowe.
Burial will follow in the Lone Mountain Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Curtis Jeffers, Ronnie Mills, Anthony Henry, Nathaniel Blaker, Dakota Henry, Cody Mills, Noah Phillips, and Will Jeffers.
