John David Damron, age 83, of Oneida, TN, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at his home. Born July 10, 1941, he was the son of the late Rhea and Vera K. Truesdell Damron.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law: Lewis and Julia Phillips Owens.
John taught school for one year at Robbins Elementary School, and was employed by the Department of Human Services for forty-one years before retirement. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Oneida where he served as a Deacon for 53 years, Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher, and was a member of the church choir.
He is survived by his wife, Jueldia (Judy) Owens Damron of Oneida; son: Timothy A. Damron and fiancée Mary of Oneida; two bonus grandsons: Cody Watson (Bali), and Isiah (Gracie) Watson; three great grandchildren; two brothers: Gwyn Rhea (Ann) Damron of Malone, FL, and Paul D. (Charlene) Damron of Antioch, TN; three nephews: Clark Damron, Myles (Jenny) Damron, and Stephen Owens; four nieces: Lesley (Joe) Spain, Linda Garrett, Patresa (Mike) Puckett, and Robin (Danny) Rice; brother-in-law: Jerry K. (Dorothy) Owens; sister-in-law: Lourene Jeffers; and several other family members and friends.
Friends may visit with the Damron family on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Dr. Sean Lee officiating. Music will be provided by The First Baptist Church Choir.
Committal service will follow in the Scott Memorial Cemetery in Oneida, TN. Pallbearers will be the Deacons of the First Baptist Church.
