Kenneth VanHook Obituary

Kenneth (Kenny) Neil VanHook, age 71 of Oneida, TN departed this life on Friday, January 8, 2021 at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, TN. He was born on January 10, 1949 in Scott County, TN.

Kenneth served his country during Vietnam. He served two tours in Vietnam where he attained the rank of Sergeant. He was highly decorated, always going above and beyond for his fellow soldiers. He got his honorable discharge in 1974. He will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Carlene VanHook; three brothers, Robert, Terry, and Jimmy; and one sister, Janis Tamboer.

Kenneth is survived by his wife of 50 years, Geneva VanHook; three sons, Kenneth Cecil VanHook and his wife Terri, Jason VanHook and his wife Alex, all of Oneida, Dave Provost and wife Danelle of Connecticut; three grandsons, Sam VanHook and wife Rose, Shane VanHook, and Kenneth VanHook; one special granddaughter, Olivia VanHook of Oneida and Jayleigh Bowling, who he considered a granddaughter; one brother, Richard VanHook and Rhonda of Goldsboro, North Carolina; three sisters, Judy Autry and Harold, Nancy Hunt and Worley and Paula Sexton and Carl, all of Oneida; several nephews, nieces, and many other relatives and friends.

Friends may visit with the VanHook family on Saturday, January 16, 2021 from 1 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Marcus Burchfield officiating.

After the service, Kenneth’s request was cremation.

With the Health Guidelines in place at this time, we ask that you be mindful of the social distancing measures recommended by the Centers for Disease Control. Masks are required.
