L.A. Newport

L.A. Newport, age 92 of Huntsville, TN passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at the Big South Fork Medical Center. Born in Scott County, TN on February 1, 1933, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Ina Lee Newport.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Phillips Newport; brothers, William (Ben) Newport and AJ Newport; sisters, Beulah Jeffers and Cindy Shepard.

L.A. is survived by his children, Clayton Newport (Glenda), Colleen Adkins (Tim), Carlene Newport, and Betty Keeton; grandchildren, Tyler Keeton, Samuel Keeton, Shelby Keeton, Amanda Perdue, Christina Perdue, Kara Younce, Josh Newport, Crystal Byrge, and Daniel Newport; six great grandchildren; brother, Joel Newport; sister, Onnie Newport; many other relatives and friends.

Friends may visit with the Newport family on Friday, May 16, 2025 from 1 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 3 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Jamie Duvall officiating.

A private family committal service will follow at the Sexton Memorial Cemetery in the Paint Rock community. Pallbearers will be: Josh Newport, Daniel Newport, Sam Keeton, Tyler Keeton, Ron Keeton, and Ty Younce.
