Lawrence Bowling

Lawrence Bowling, age 73, of Robbins, TN, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2023, at the Big South Fork Medical Center in Oneida, TN. Born on February 12, 1949, Lawrence was the son of the late Rev. Virgil and Lillie Bowling. He was the co-founder of a prominent Scott County-based business: Bowling Excavating and Lumber Company with his brother Harold Bowling. As a hobby, Lawrence enjoyed the restoration of classic cars. He also had an innate talent for operating heavy equipment.

In addition to his parents, Lawrence was preceded in death by his sisters: Viola Foley, Gladis Owens, Lola Mae Brown, and Hazel Cross; brother: Lester Bowling; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Clark and Opal Wilson.

Lawrence is survived by his wife of 36 years: Loretta Sue Bowling; sisters: Elsie DeNoyer of Belleville, Michigan, and Edna Cross of Robbins, TN; brothers: Harold and wife Brenda Bowling of Robbins TN, Sylvester Bowling of Winfield, TN and many other special family and friends.

Friends may visit with the Bowling family on Monday, January 9, 2023, from 6 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Byrge and Bro. Brent Bowling officiating. Music will be provided by the Black Creek Crossroads Baptist Church Choir.

Committal service will be on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at 11 a.m. in the Black Creek Crossroads Cemetery in Robbins, TN. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
