Lawton Edward Pike

Lawton Edward Pike, age 79 of Resaca, Georgia, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2020 at his home.  Born in Oneida, Tennessee on March 12, 1941, he was the son of the late Daires and Cordellia Phillips Pike.

Lawton was of the Baptist faith where he was baptized as a teenager at Tunnel Hill Baptist Church.  He also was employed 45 years at the Frye Copy Systems in Decatur, Georgia. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Gregory Allen Pike.

Survived by his wife and caregiver Lela Nance Pike; the mother of his children Rosita Posey; children: Teresa Pike Orick and Greg Woods of Ohio; Sherrie Ellis and husband Bill; Troy Pike and fiancée Beth all of Oneida, Tennessee; stepchildren: Connie and Tony O’Daniel of Decatur, Tennessee; Jeff Nance of Cleveland, Tennessee; sisters: Eunice Buttram and husband JR of Oneida, Tennessee; Bernice Johns and husband Wayne of Resaca, Georgia; grandchildren: Cody, Tyler; Travis; Seth; Dalton, Rusty, Dallas, Jenny and Jabe; eleven great grandchildren; he leaves several nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives and friends.

Friends may visit with the Pike family on Thursday, July 30, 2020 from 3 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 5 p.m. in the chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Dean Barnes officiating.

Committal service will follow in the Phillips Cemetery in the Cherry Fork Community.  Serving as pallbearers will be Travis Ellis, Cody Orick, Seth Pike, Rusty Ellis, John Hembree, Bill Ellis, Dallas Pike, and Dalton Pike.

With the Health Guidelines in place at this time, we ask that you be mindful of the social distancing measures recommended by the Centers for Disease Control.  Masks are required.
