Lindford Lee Lay, age 77 of Oneida, TN, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2020 at the North Knoxville Medical Center. Born in Oneida, TN on September 20, 1940, he was the son of the late Lindford and Sarah Ellen Lay. Lindford’s favorite pastime was talking on the CB where he went by the handle of White Mule.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jenell Lay of Oneida and brother-in-law, Larry Jeffers of the Paint Rock community.
Lindford is survived by his son, Jeff Lay and wife Sandra; two special grandsons, Logan Lay and Tyler Lay and fiancée Tori Muñoz, all of Oneida; brothers, John Lay and wife Reta Fay Lay of Nashville, Jack Lay and wife Betty Ann Lay of Nashville and Jerry Lay of Nashville; sister, Priscilla Jeffers of the Paint Rock community; and many other relatives and friends.
Friends may visit with the Lay family on Friday, July 24, 2020 from 2 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 3 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Dean Barnes officiating. Music will be provided by the Roberts family.
Committal service will follow in the West Cemetery in Oneida with full Military Honors conducted by the American Legion Post #136 of Oneida. Pallbearers will be: Jackie Pennington, Shane Cooper, Adam Lowe, Matthew Burk, Ray Marlow and Tyler Lay.
