Macel Strunk

Macel Harness Strunk, age 83 of Scott County departed this life on Monday, December 17, 2018 at home surrounded by her family. Macel was a loving, caring mother, grandmother, and friend to many. She was born in Scott County on September 24, 1935 to Lindsay and Florence Wilson Harness. She was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church.

Macel was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years Wolford Strunk; her parents, Lindsay and Florence Wilson Harness; son-in-law, Venis Byrd; two brothers, Virgil Harness and wife Mae, Melvin Harness and wife Emiline; four sisters, Ethel and husband Roosevelt Harness, Ardilia and husband Walter Harness, Cordelia and husband Alonzo Harness, and Flora Harness.

She is survived by her life partner of 20 years, Marshall Wilder; three daughters, Joyce Byrd, Karen Massengale and husband Tim, and Lisa Sexton; two granddaughters, Marissa Hein and husband Nate; Jodi Cross and husband Tyler; two grandsons, Dennis Byrd and wife Charity; Jason Byrd and wife Jennifer; five great grandchildren, Kayla Phillips and husband Dustin, Kaitlyn Byrd, Kaley Woodard, Kelsey Jo Woodard and Kameron Byrd; a dear friend, Carla Byrge and family friend, Joe Sexton; one sister, Cassie Harness of Temple, GA; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Friends may visit with the Strunk family on Thursday, December 20, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, December 21, 2018 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Wayne King officiating.

Burial will follow in the Strunk Cemetery in the Winona Community. Pallbearers will be: Tim Massengale, Dennis Byrd, Jason Byrd, Tyler Cross, Nate Hein and Joe Sexton. Honorary pallbearers will be: Kameron Byrd and Dustin Phillips.
