Marian Raye Burk, age 76, of Oneida, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family, on February 8, 2021, after a long illness. She was born in Oneida on March 13, 1944. She was a lifelong member of the Pine Creek United Baptist Church, where she was a devoted Tiny Tots Sunday School teacher for more than three decades. Marian served as the former Commander of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 136 and had a very special place in her heart for all veterans.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Millard Stanfill and Etta Marcum Stanfill; her sister, Etta Faye Stanfill; her in-laws, George “Pat” Burke and Irene Crabtree Burke, brother-in-law Jesse Terry and many more beloved family and friends.
She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, James Edward Burk; daughter Tonja Burk; daughter Jodi Morrow and husband Adam; granddaughters Jessy, Sarah, and Ava Morrow; and great-grandson Ian; twin sister Sharon Stanfill; sisters-in-law: Mary Lou Terry, Wilma Harness and husband Jeff; brothers-in-law: Arnold Burke and wife Patricia, Ray Burke and wife Terry, Darrel Burke and wife Nancy, and many other special nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
The family would like to thank her special caregivers, Melissa, Tasha, Sherry, Teeley, and Carol as well as the Amedisys hospice staff for all their kindness and support.
Friends may visit with the Burk family on Friday, February 12, 2021 from 2 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 3 p.m. at the Pine Creek Baptist Church in Oneida with Dr. Jack Kline and Rev. Keith Marcum officiating. Music will be provided by the Pine Creek Church choir.
Committal service will follow at the Marcum-Kidd Cemetery in Oneida. Pallbearers will be nephews Mark Terry, Scott Jeffers, Joel West, Kevin Burke, Roderick Strunk, James Slaven, David Byrd, and cousin Jared Terry. Honorary pallbearers include special cousins John Judy, Mearle Marcum, and Larry Marcum.
With the Health Guidelines in place at this time, we ask that you be mindful of the social distancing measures recommended by the Centers for Disease Control. Masks are required.
