Marilyn Hancock Acres

Marilyn Hancock Acres, age 67 of Oneida, TN, departed this life on Thursday, April 22, 2021.  Born in Scott County, TN on March 29, 1954, she was the daughter of Vera Terry Hancock and the late Larry Hancock.  Marilyn was a born again Christian, and member of the Leatherwood Baptist Church.  She sang with The Hancock Family Gospel Group.

 In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Sheila Joe and Lila Jill Hancock; grandparents:  Obie J. and Hazel Payne Hancock, Segal and Nova Terry; and her father and mother-in-law:  Argie and Opal Payne Acres.

Marilyn leaves behind her husband of 46 years: Rob Acres; son: Quentin Acres; mother: Vera Hancock Slaven and husband R. O.; sister: Matilda Thompson; brother: Mark Hancock; nephew: Caleb Thompson and wife Misty; niece: Erin Laxton and husband Michael; great nieces and nephews: Monroe, Lyla, and Lincoln Thompson, Miles, Marron, Eldon and Elias Laxton; and many other relatives and friends.

Friends may visit with the Acres family on Sunday, April 25 from 10:30 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. at the Leatherwood Baptist Church with Pastor Bradley Kidd and Bro. Braxton King officiating.

Music will be provided by Doris and Junior Potter.

Interment will follow in the Leatherwood Cemetery.

Serving as Pallbearers: Dale Daugherty, Craig Daugherty, Sam Cross, Wesley Kidd, Donald Smith, Corry Smith, and Doyle.

Honorary Pallbearer: Doyle Smith.
