Marvin Ray Bowling, age 70, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at the Big South Fork Medical Center in Oneida, TN. He was born February 18, 1950 in Norma, TN, to the late Rev. Levi and Viola Green Bowling.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Alton and David Bowling, both of Oneida, and Dennis Keith Bowling of Norma; and sister: Regina Carter of Dayton, OH; father and mother-in-law: Howard and Marie Kidd of Oneida.
Marvin retired from Doctors Winchester, Patton & Burgess, PSC after 40 years. He was a member of the Mill Branch Missionary Baptist Church. He served 20 years as Pastor at Liberty Baptist Church; he also served 9 years as Associate Pastor and Youth Pastor at Black Oak Baptist Church; and he served 2 years at Trinity Baptist Church with the youth.
Marvin cannot be honored without first honoring them that made him what he was. He and his wife, Kathia, faithfully served the Lord together through 50 years of marriage. God blessed them with three precious children and nine grandchildren who are all also faithfully serving the Lord.
Marvin loved his family very much. He also had wonderful memories of his childhood at Norma, TN and fond memories of his dad, mom, and brothers on the farm.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years: Kathia Kidd Bowling; son: Dustin Bowling and wife Shonda of Huntsville, TN; daughters: Sonya Storey and husband Joe of Rockwood, TN, and Wendy Parker and husband Will of Sparta, TN; grandchildren: Autumn and Kelsie Bowling, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Micaiah and Nehemiah Storey, and Austin, Lily and Kolton Ray Parker. He is also survived by two brothers: Danny Bowling and wife Louise, and Gordon Bowling and wife Fredia; and one sister-in-law: Lola Bowling; as well as many other family members and friends.
A private funeral ceremony will be held for the family.
A public burial will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Leatherwood Cemetery with Bro. Kevin Reynolds and Bro. Joe Storey officiating. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren: Isaiah, Jeremiah, Micaiah and Nehemiah Storey, Austin Parker, and son-in-law: Will Parker. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Autumn and Kelsie Bowling, and Lily and Kolt Parker.
With the Health Guidelines in place at this time, we ask that you be mindful of the social distancing measures recommended by the Centers for Disease Control. Masks are required.
