Mattie "Patsy" Terry Obituary

Mattie “Patsy” Terry of Oneida, Tennessee departed this life on Saturday, October 26, 2024.
She was 79 years old. She was born on May 5, 1945, in the Paint Rock community.

In addition to her mother Mary Wolford and father Ancil Wolford, she is proceeded in death by husband of 50 years Forrest “Skeet” Terry, brother Frank Wolford, sister Susie Bell, and infant brother.

She is survived by her only son Scott Terry, wife Lindy, and one special grandson Andrew. One sister June West, two special nieces Trilby Carroll and Terri Burke. and many other nieces and nephews.

Mattie who was known by everyone by Patsy lived her life the best she knew and left this life a child of God. She was a loyal member of the Church of Christ throughout her entire life.
Even though her illness took away her memory and many of her thoughts, she continued to read and even write the New Testament daily even up till it was taken from here. One of the most touching tributes was told to me a few years ago when one of the nurses when she was in the hospital told me that my mother prayed every night to the Lord before she slept for everyone in her life to be happy and before she would say amen she would tell the Lord she couldn’t wait to get to heaven. In her last years her body and mind had failed her but her unwavering love for her only grandchild Andrew was so prevalent. She would always ask about him before anything. There were two special families in her life that meant so much on a daily basis to her. The Trilby Carroll family who lived with her and cared for her for years Trilby, Frank, and 2 very special children that in her later years filled her heart with joy, Jaylynn and Bentley. The other Ray and Terri Burke family, all the kids and the grandkids were always part of her life through so many years. These ladies were more than just nieces they were like daughters to her.

A special thank you to the loving and caring staff at the Oneida Rehab Center for the help with Patsy in her final years. Also, to the staff and owners of Phillips Drive-In who treated Patsy like family and was her absolute favorite place for lunch every day for many years.

In-lieu-of flowers, Patsy requested that you read your favorite verse from the Bible and thank God for all our blessings.
