Melissa D. Lawson Chitwood Obituary

Melissa Deane Lawson Chitwood, age 54 of Winfield, TN, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at her home. Born January 22, 1965 in Scott County, TN, she was the daughter of Betty Jean Lawson and the late Dean E. Lawson. Melissa was a member of the Pine Grove Baptist Church.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law: Albert and Cordelia Chitwood; brother-in-law: Jack Chitwood; and sister-in-law: Rose Crane (Marshall).

Melissa is survived by her husband: Joel Chitwood of Winfield; daughter: Whitney Ellis (Brent Ellis) of Helenwood; sons: Joel Chitwood, Jr. (Diana) of Evans, GA, Tyler Chitwood (Doug Matheson) of Los Angeles, CA; mother: Betty Jean Lawson of Helenwood; sister: Susan Goss (Doug) of Helenwood; grandchildren: Bentley and Mason Ellis, Damon and Elysia Chitwood and Rolan Chitwood; brother-in-law: Paul Chitwood (Melissa) and sister-in-law: Irene Chitwood, both of Winfield; special nieces: Megan and Abby Chitwood; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.

Friends may visit with the Chitwood family on Friday, June 7, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Charles Webb and Bro. Payton Slaven officiating. Music will be provided by: the Chitwood Singers, and Irene and Thea Chitwood.

Graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Jonathan Chitwood Cemetery in Winfield, TN. Pallbearers will be: Jeff Chitwood, Jonathan Chitwood, Jeremy Chitwood, Jared Chitwood, Justin Wright and Adam Wright. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Tucker Chitwood, Holden Chitwood and Josiah Chitwood.
