Michael C. Garrett

Michael C. Garrett, age 76, of Oneida, TN, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2022, at the University of TN Medical Center in Knoxville, TN.  Born December 10, 1945, he was the son of the late Lansden Carson ‘Rodney’ and Ivona Jones Garrett.  

Michael accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age; graduated from Oneida High School in 1963; and worked at Arvin Industries at which time he was drafted into the United States Army in 1965.  He served during the Vietnam War in Army Intelligence.  Upon his return home, he worked as Chief dispatcher for the Southern and Tennessee Railroads, and then served as Yardmaster on Norfolk Southern Railroad until he retired.

He was a member of the Scott County Historical Society, and former Sunday School Teacher at Pentecost Baptist Church in Oneida.  He was an active member of the Future Farmers of America Oneida Chapter in the 1960’s; and was recently recognized as a special guest at the 1st Annual FFA banquet at OHS.

Michael is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda Gail Partin Garrett of Oneida; daughter:  Julie Garrett Baird and husband Myke of Oneida; son:  John Michael Garrett and Faith Bowling of Oneida; granddaughters:  Alayna and Carys Baird, and Ava Garrett; two brothers and one sister.

Friends may visit with Garrett family on Thursday, June 30, 2022, from 6-8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home.

His wishes were to be cremated.
