Mona Ruth Ellis Ross Obituary

Mona Ruth Ellis Ross, age 90 of Helenwood, TN passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, TN.  Born September 7, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Claude and Pearl Ellis.

Mona was the Valedictorian of the Huntsville High School Graduating Class of 1946; life-long member of Low Gap Missionary Baptist Church; avid collector of bird figurines, lighthouses, and salt and pepper shakers.  She always had a positive word for everyone; and loved all the customers and children that frequented the First National Bank over her many years there.  She thoroughly enjoyed socializing at her two favorite restaurants:  Fireside, and later Raezack’s.  Her family was her main focus and always came first.  Her love and respect and dedication was felt by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Mona was preceded in death by her daughter:  Linda Kay Terry; brothers:  Odie Ellis, and Wiley (Shorty) Ellis; sisters:  Clara Matthews and Loma Ferguson; brothers-in-law:  Etheridge Byrd and Carl Ferguson.

Mona is survived by her husband:  Charles Ross; sons:  Charles Lee Ross and Jayne Roysden, Luther Marlow and Leslie Guy Marlow; daughters:  Louetta Clark and husband Jim of Nashville, and Valerie Strunk; grandchildren:  Kendra Evans, Chad Terry, Marlo Clark, Andrew Clark, Shannon Marlow, Lucas Marlow, Cody Marlow, Rick Marlow, Paige Pryor, Michael Webber and Trace Webber; twelve great grandchildren; and one great, great grandchild due in April; brother:  Claude Ellis, Jr. of Mason, OH; sister:  Sonia Byrd of Alcoa, TN; brother-in-law:  John Matthews; as well as many other family members and friends.

Friends may visit with the Ross family on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at the Low Gap Missionary Baptist Church from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  

Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2020 at the Low Gap Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. James Taylor and Bro. Larry Brooks officiating.  Music will be provided by David and Felicia Walker.

Committal will follow in the Carson Memorial Park.  Pallbearers will be her grandsons:  Chad Terry, Andrew Clark, Shannon Marlow, Lucas Marlow, Cody Marlow and Rick Marlow.
