Ms. Helen Hicks

Ms. Helen Faye Slaven Neal Hicks, born December 17, 1943, departed this earth on Tuesday, August 13, 2024. She passed peacefully at her home with loving family by her side.

Helen enjoyed attending church and taking care of her flower gardens.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Lola and Andrew Slaven; husbands, James Neal and Lawrence Hicks; children, Jerry and Alice Neal; siblings, Veda and husband Robert Watson, Jo Ward, Cleo Slaven, Cletus Slaven, Lonney Slaven, and Catherine Collins.

Helen is survived by her brother, Kenneth Slaven; sisters, Beatrice and Ann; her children, Thelma Neal, Sue and husband Scott Garrett, Tony Neal, Bonnie Lay, Sylvia and husband Danny Sexton; grandchildren, Johnny Washam, Charles E. Washam Jr., Melissa Jones, Christopher Washam, Angela Garrett, Natasha Munoz and husband Caleb, Zachary Garrett and wife JaKayla, Danny Lay and wife Whitney, Chelsea Worley and husband Colby, Timmy Neal and wife Aleisha, Amber Jeffers and husband Jake, and Tiffany Neal, along with 26 great grandkids and many other family members and friends.

All family and friends are welcome to celebrate Helen’s life on Friday, August 16, 2024 from 12 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Bradley Kidd officiating.

Committal service will follow in the Foster Crossroads Cemetery in Oneida. Pallbearers will be: Tony Neal, Timmy Neal, Christopher Washam, Scott Garrett, Danny Lay, Jake Jeffers, and Danny Sexton.
