Ray Edwin Hatfield, age 80, of Norma, TN, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Scott County, on May 14, 1945, he was the son of the late Finley and Hattie Watson Hatfield.
Ray loved his family and showed them every day. He was a wonderful husband, loving father, and very loving grandfather. Ray loved and served the Lord, and was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church. Ray was adored by the community and served as the Scott County Road Superintendent for 8 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother: Floyd Hatfield; brothers-in-law: Dewayne Collins, Arnold Burress, Laughton Phillips, and J. D. Burke; sisters-in-law: Judy Smith and Patsy Hatfield Boshears; nephews: Alane Phillips, Gary Lee Jeffers, Brian Boshears and Josh Phillips; and niece: Leah Hatfield.
Ray is survived by his wife of 59 years: Loretta Boshears Hatfield; daughter: Suzanne (Carl) Prater; son: Chad (Jennifer) Hatfield; grandchildren: Zack (Felicia) Sexton, Shaylee (Ethan) Silcox, Keeley Sexton, Grace Prater, Justice (Ryan) Ward, Mikah Lloyd and Deacon Lloyd; great grandchildren: Jett, Luke, Jasper and Bella; and special nephew Craig Hatfield; siblings: Loy (Nanny) Hatfield, Shelia (Arnold) Burress, Shelda (Ray) Burress, Sandra Collins and Fayla Phillips; brothers-in-law: Junior (Jennifer) Boshears, Paul (Valerie) Boshears, Gary (Carol) Boshears, Curt (Linda) Boshears, and Junior Smith; sisters-in-law: Kathleen Burke, Bonnie (Johnny) Murley, Geneva Hatfield and Janetta (Ted) Davis; along with many nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends who loved him deeply.
Friends may visit with the Hatfield family on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home.
Graveside service will follow in the Hatfield Family Cemetery with Bro. Michael Ray Jeffers officiating. Music will be provided by Jerry and Angie Day. Pallbearers will be: Carl Prater, Zack Sexton, Deacon Lloyd, Ethan Silcox, Craig Hatfield, Danny Boshears and Keith Murley.
