Rella Faye (Hatfield) Burchfield

Rella Faye Hatfield Burchfield, age 90 of Oneida, TN, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at her home.  Born April 8, 1936, in Norma, Scott County, TN, she was the daughter of the late James Bedford and Gertie Jane Byrd Hatfield.

Rella was a member of the First Baptist Church Oneida which she loved, especially her WMU ladies and Sisters of the Skillett. She loved her many friends, especially talking to them on the phone, and spending time tending to her flower garden. Her favorite times were spent with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Rankin Burchfield Jr. of 63 years; sister Patricia (Patsy) Hatfield  Boshears; her in-laws Rankin and Violet Phillips Burchfield, and nephews Brian Boshears and Billy McDonald.  

She is survived by her children, Jim Burchfield and wife Diane, Scott Burchfield and wife Bridgett, Jane Shoopman and husband Stokley; her grandchildren, Brandon Coffey (Ashlee), Alex Coffey (Jasmine), Zachary Daniels (Sierra), Kalah Barrett (Josh), Shelby Potter (Robert), Zane Kidd, and Abby Young (Adam); 19 great grandchildren.  The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Diane Foster who cared for and loved Rella.

 Friends may visit with the Burchfield family on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Oneida with Dr. Sean Lee officiating. Music will be provided by Allen Martin and First Baptist Church Choir.

Committal service will follow in the Carson Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be: Robert Potter, Joshua Barrett, Adam Young, Zachary Daniels, Zane Kidd and Tanner Boshears.
