Rev. Joseph Andrew 'Joe' Blevins Obituary

Rev. Joseph Andrew ‘Joe’ Blevins, age 77 of Oneida, TN, passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his family.  Born in Scott County, TN, May 12, 1947, he was the son of the late Tirl Monroe and Florence Elizabeth West Blevins.  

A child of God, Joe was saved at an early childhood age.  He was ordained as a Baptist Minister in 1992 and was a Pastor and Sunday School teacher for many years.  He was a graduate of Oneida High School, Class of 1965.  He joined the Army on July 4, 1966, and served one term in Vietnam.  He was Sergeant E-5, and received many awards, including a Purple Heart.  Joe drove long-distance for 36 years.  He married his high school sweetheart, Wanda Sue Blevins, and were married 59 years, and they bore three children:  Daniel Blevins, Jilleen (Eddie) Newport, and Kelly Blevins.  They have two precious granddaughters:  Emily Newport, and Tealie Guard Blevins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother:  William (Bill) Blevins; father and mother-in-law:  Edd and Laura Blevins; sisters-in-law:  Minnie Ruth Evans and Christine (Dean) Babb; and brothers-in-law:  Norman (Crabb) Crabtree, Harold Chambers, and William Earnest Blevins.

Joe is survived by his wife, Children and granddaughters; brothers:  RT (Buddy) Blevins, and John Blevins; sisters:  Ramona Crabtree, Mary Chambers, Beverly Blevins (Eugene Bottoms); special niece:  Christy (Tommy) Bandy; sisters and brothers-in-law:  Shirley Kay (Jesse) Burke, Tommy (Susie) Blevins; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The family would like to extend a very special Thank You to Jennifer Gibson and all the nurses, caregivers, therapists, hospice over the last several years.

Friends may visit with the Blevins family on Thursday, December 12, 2024, from 12:30 p.m. until time of funeral service at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Keith Marcum and Bro. James Stewart officiating.  Music will be provided by Tammy and Justin Wright and Tony Daugherty.

Committal service will follow in the Marcum-Kidd Cemetery.
