Richard W. Houdeshell Obituary

Richard Walter Houdeshell, age 75 of Oneida, TN passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at his home. Born in Muncie, IN on March 26, 1944, he was the son of the late David Collins and Elizabeth Armor Bryant Houdeshell.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David Raymond Houdeshell; sisters, Ruth Bussett, Patricia Sorenson, Sally Held and Deloris Joyce Houdeshell; granddaughter, Amy Nicole Newport; father and mother-in-law, Gleason and Reba Ooten Jeffers.

Richard is survived by wife and mother of his children, Helen Jeffers Houdeshell; two daughters, Pamela Gibson (Les) of Robbins, TN and Teresa and Thomas Campbell of Corbin, KY; two sons, Darrell Houdeshell and David and Stephanie Houdeshell of Oneida; 6 grandchildren, Melanie Jones, Kimberly Fryar, Sara Shoupe, Daniellie Roberson, Bryson and Harper Houdeshell; 7 great grandchildren, Joshua, Olivia, Damian, Rikki, Kale, Mailey and Piper; a special brother-in-law that was close as a brother, James Jeffers, they were best friends and worked with each other on automobiles; two sisters-in-law who loved and helped care for him, Betty Smith of Oneida and Joyce Allen of Lebanon, TN; his granddaughter, Kimberly Fryar who stayed by his side; special friend and mother of David Houdeshell, Caroline Robbins. Richard leaves behind many friends from antique car shows, good neighbors and many other relatives and friends.

Friends may visit with the Houdeshell family on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 from 6 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 8 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Joe West officiating. Music will be provided by Allen Carson.

Committal service will be on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at 11 a.m. in the Strunk Cemetery in Huntsville. Pallbearers will be: Anthony Smith, Scott Jeffers, Joe Jones, Chad Duncan, Darrell Houdeshell and Kimberly Fryar.
