Robert Lee Slaven, age 73 of Oneida, TN passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at his home surrounded by family. Born in Scott County, TN on December 4, 1949, he was the son of the late Andy and Mable Ooten Slaven.
Robert was a faithful Christian man who loved working as an altar worker at church. He was also a big Oneida and Tennessee football fan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Brandon Robert Slaven; brothers, Barry and wife Sarah Faye, Roy, Hershel and Jewel, Charles and Brenda, Clifford, and infant brother, Johnny; father-in-law, James W. Burchfield; brother-in-law, James Ronald Burchfield and wife Barbara.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Marie Burchfield Slaven; daughters, Nicole and Kenny VanHook and Stacy Slaven; grandsons whom he raised, Jacob and wife Ali, Cody and wife Tiffany, Chad, Elijah, and other grandsons Tyler Crews, Logan Ellis; nephew, Rick and Sherry Slaven; a precious great granddaughter who he loved very much, Rylee Marie Slaven; mother-in-law, Imogene Burchfield; sisters-in-law, Merrilea Slaven, Jean Slaven, Sandra Hagler and husband Terry; three special nieces and nephews that he thought of as grandchildren, NaRicka Grey, Kelsey Slaven, and Nick Slaven; nieces and nephews, Glenda Neal, Barry Jr. Slaven, Darryl Slaven, Tony and DeWayne Slaven, Shaun, Shaneka Slaven Burchfield, and Sheila Slaven; a host of other nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
Friends may visit with the Slaven family on Saturday, July 1, 2023 from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Oneida Church of God.
Funeral service will be on Sunday, July 2, 2023 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Jack Norris and Bro. Rick Slaven officiating. Music will be provided by family and friends.
Robert will be cremated with a private service.
