Robert Owens Johnson

*An Inurnment Service for Robert Owens (Bob) Johnson will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2021, with family and friends gathering at 1:00 p.m. until time of inurnment at 1:30 p.m. in the H. C. Smith Family Cemetery with Richard Robbins officiating.*

Robert Owens (Bob) Johnson, age 82 of Oneida, passed away on Friday, September 24, 2021, at his home.  Born March 23, 1939, in Nashville, TN, he was the son of the late Walker R. and Lucille Owens Johnson.

Bob graduated from Isaac Litton High School and was a member of the Marching 100 in 1957; and in 1964 he graduated from the University of Tennessee where he was a member of Pikappa Alpha Fraternity.  He retired from DuPont after 30 years at Old Hickory, TN, New York City and Wilmington, DE.  He was a retired Lt. Colonel in the TN Air National Guard, and a member of the Little Charity Church of God in Oneida.  Bob enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and playing with his dog, Mandy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents:  John and Sallye Owens, and Jitt and Mossie Johnson.

Robert is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Smith Johnson; sister:  Cynthia Johnson Atkinson of Heritage, TN; very special cousin:  Susan Burcham Hatcher of Clinton, Utah; his best friend of over 20 years, John Roy Thompson; Gregory Brett Chambers, whom he thought of as a son; several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Bob had chosen cremation.
