Ronald Wayne King

Rev. Ronald Wayne King, age 64, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, December 26, 2023.  He was the Pastor of New Salem Baptist Church for 23 years and loved his church family very much.  Wayne was born March 29. 1959, to Herb and Faye King.  

He was preceded in death by his grandson and namesake:  Jesse Wayne Brewster; in-laws:  Tub and Violet Cross.

Wayne loved the Lord, his family, his Country, and his community.  He was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy and was Chaplain for American Legion Post 136 of Oneida.    He was a business owner, and mentor to many Youths in the county.  Wayne touched many lives working at Scott County and Big South Fork Hospital.  He served in different capacities with the Chamber of Commerce, STAND, Airport Board, and several other boards and volunteer services.

In addition to his parents, Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 43 years:  Kim Cross King; three beautiful children:  Tara Brewster, Corey King and wife Alicia, and Caleb King and wife Kaitlyn; grandchildren, whom he thought hung the moon:  Destiny, Brooke, Jasmine, Wyatt, Jaden, and Jase.  He is also survived by his doting sister:  Kathy West and husband Shady, and their son Michael; two brothers-in-law:  Greg and Kathy Cross, and Derek Cross; several aunts, one uncle, and many other family members and friends.

Friends may visit with the King family on Friday, December 29, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home until time of funeral service at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Dwight Stanley and Bro. Norman Burk officiating.  Music will be provided by the Singing Hamby’s.

Committal service will follow in Scott Memorial Gardens with full Military Honors conducted by the American Legion Post #136 of Oneida. Pallbearers will be:  Wyatt Brewster, Greg Cross, David Baird, Jason Byrd, Michael West, and Chuck King.
